Join us for the April Slow Food Convivium when we will take a deep dive into olive oil - a renowned agricultural product. Olive oil producers the world over are being affected by climate change. Warming temperatures make the annual harvest time uncertain and impact harvest yields, which in turn leads to price increases from established markets.
In Oregon a few forward looking farmers have planted olive groves, anticipating that the regional climate will become ideal for olive production. We will learn about the burgeoning Oregon olive oil industry as well as get a better understanding of the Italian market.
Join us to learn more about olive oil from Jim Dixon, Founder and Co-owner of Wellspent Market. Jim is a James Beard Award-nominated food writer and avid home cook who knows that good meals start with good ingredients. After an eye opening trip to Italy in the 90s Jim decided to import a few cases of authentic Italian extra virgin olive oil which quickly developed into Real Good Food, an olive oil and specialty food distribution business.
We will share select samples of both Oregon and Italian olive oils.
