Persimmon Workshop
Did you know that there are over 400 varieties of Persimmons, but the two main types that are commercially grown are Fuyus and Hachiya? They are native to China, are full of vitamins and fiber, and can be used in sweet and savory recipes.
Join us at Cookshop for a morning of learning about Persimmons! We’ll be demoing a few ways to use persimmons in sweet and savory dishes and we’ll have a representative from the Portland Fruit Tree Project on hand to talk about their work and answer any burning persimmon questions Plus, we’ll be handing out samples, recipes, and all participants will leave with a bag of persimmons to use at home.
This fruit workshop is being held in partnership with the Portland Fruit Tree Project, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit their mission to “increase equitable access to healthful food and strengthen communities by empowering neighbors to share in the harvest and care of city-grown produce”.
