Join Elsy Dinvil of Creole Me Up for an evening of food, fun and celebration! Elsy will be teaching how to make a complete Haitian feast and we’ll all sit down to enjoy the results together. This will be a fun-filled, educational, and delicious THREE hour class, so come ready learn and join the party!

Menu:

Appetizers

  • Fried plantains (green and sweet)

  • Fried dumplings

  • Taro root fritters

  • Deep-fried empanadas
    Pikliz

Salads

  • Green salad

  • Macaroni salad

  • Salade Russe (beet and potato salad)

Rice

  • Rice and red beans with coconut milk

  • mac and cheese (macaroni gratiné)

Meats

  • Gryo (deep-fried pork belly)

  • Chicken wings in creole sauce

Greens

  • Sautéed spinach

What to expect:

  • This is a hands-on class, and will include all instruction, tools, recipes and ingredients.

  • There will be some demo, and lots of hands-on cooking. We have a BIG menu planned! Everyone will get lots of time to cook, but please note not EVERYONE will get to prepare EVERY dish.

  • Class will end around enjoying a meal around our long tables.

  • Our meal includes pork, gluten and dairy in several dishes, and isn’t ideal for vegetarians, gluten or dairy free folks. Please give us a call BEFORE registering if you you have questions.

  • Beverages ( juices, sparkling water, and wine), included in ticket price.

About our instructor:

Originating from Haiti, Elsy’s food journey began in her mother’s kitchen, progressed to receiving an undergraduate degree in food science in the U.S. on scholarship, then returned her to Haiti to work with USAID.

Today, in addition to owning and operating her food business, Creole Me Up , Elsy is an author and educator, writing and teaching from Creole food traditions and flavors.
